The M6 iMac (from $1,499) and the MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display (from $2,899) arrive the same day. • InStock Tracker does not track Macs. Check Mac pickup availability on apple.com or in the Apple Store app.

When is the M6 MacBook Pro release date?

The M6 14-inch MacBook Pro is available on Friday, November 6, 2026. Apple opened pre-orders on October 28 (Apple Newsroom).

Two other new Macs share that date. The MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display went up for pre-order on October 28 and is available Friday, November 6 (Apple Newsroom). Apple's iMac page says the new M6 iMac is "Available starting November 6th" (Apple).

Apple says both the MacBook Pro with M6 and the iMac with M6 went on pre-order in 35 countries and regions, including the US, and reach customers and Apple Stores from November 6 (Apple Newsroom).

What's new in the M6 MacBook Pro?

M6 is a faster chip in the same 14-inch design. Here is what Apple's announcement claims, with every comparison against M5:

Apple's store lists standard M6 configurations with 16GB, 24GB or 32GB of memory, each with 1TB of storage. It lists no 16-inch model with M6.

Will there be an M6 Pro or M6 Max?

Unknown. As of Oct 30, 2026, Apple hasn't announced M6 Pro or M6 Max chips, a 16-inch MacBook Pro with M6, or an M6 MacBook Air. Reports about future chips are guesses until Apple confirms them, so we don't plan around them. If you need a 16-inch MacBook Pro now, your choice is M5 Pro or M5 Max.

What is in Apple's Mac lineup in late 2026?

Three Macs are new this month: the M6 MacBook Pro, the PROLED MacBook Pro and the M6 iMac. Here is the full US lineup as listed on Apple's site on October 30, 2026 (Apple):

A few notes on the table. The Mac mini's M6 version launched around late August 2026, according to TidBITS. Apple's Mac Studio page lists a "512GB memory option for M5 Ultra coming late October". Apple says the PROLED model uses "tandem OLED technology" and brings touch to the Mac "for the first time".

How much do the new Macs cost?

The new Macs start at $1,499 for the iMac, $1,999 for the M6 MacBook Pro, and $2,899 for the 14-inch PROLED MacBook Pro with M5 Pro. The 16-inch PROLED model starts at $3,399 with M5 Pro. With M5 Max, the PROLED models start at $4,499 (14-inch) and $4,799 (16-inch) (Apple Newsroom).

Education pricing is $1,899 for the M6 MacBook Pro, and $1,449 or $1,599 for the two iMac models (Apple Newsroom).

The $200 iMac step buys more than cores. Apple's iMac page says the 12-core model includes Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and supports up to two external displays, while the 10-core model supports one; port configuration also varies by model. TidBITS noted on Oct 27 that the iMac's $1,499 starting price is unchanged since Apple's June 2026 price increase.

If you want to spread the cost, Apple offers two Apple-branded plans for Macs:

The two plans work very differently, since one is a purchase and one is a lease. We compare them in Apple Upgrade vs Apple Card Monthly Installments.

Trading in an old Mac can cut the price. Apple raised its US Mac trade-in values on October 26, 2026: up to $1,435 for a MacBook Pro, $795 for a MacBook Air and $2,560 for a Mac Pro, MacRumors reported. Apple says values vary with the condition, year and configuration of your device (Apple Trade In).

Can you pick up a new MacBook Pro or iMac at an Apple Store?

Yes, but not before November 6. The M6 MacBook Pro, the PROLED MacBook Pro and the M6 iMac are pre-order only until their availability date, so no store can hand one over before then.

From November 6, Apple's normal pickup process applies. Apple says you can check whether a product is in stock by seeing if it is available for pickup at a nearby store on apple.com (Apple). Apple also says it offers pickup for "many" products, and that "certain products and payment methods" may not qualify.

Custom configurations change the picture. Apple says customized Macs take longer to prepare, and the delivery date updates as you configure. If you need a Mac fast, a standard configuration is more likely to be ready for pickup sooner.

If the store you want shows no pickup option, our guide to "pickup unavailable" at the Apple Store explains what it usually means.

How does Apple Store pickup work for a Mac?

You order online or in the Apple Store app, choose a store, and wait for Apple's ready notification before going in. Apple sends "an email and mobile notification with a QR code when your order is scheduled to be picked up" and asks you to wait for it.

  1. Order the Mac online or in the Apple Store app and select in-store pickup.
  2. Wait for the pickup notification with your QR code. You can add the pass to the Wallet app.
  3. Bring your order number, a valid government-issued photo ID, and the QR code or Wallet pass. Apple says screenshots or photos of the QR code are not accepted.
  4. Pick up by the date in your ready email. Apple says it may cancel orders that aren't picked up.

You can name someone else to collect the order by giving their name and email, though Apple says certain products and payment methods aren't eligible. For the full walkthrough, see how Apple Store pickup works.

Is delivery faster than pickup for a new Mac?

Sometimes. Apple says next-day delivery is free for any in-stock Mac, and standard delivery is free for all online orders.

Apple's $9 two-hour delivery is available on eligible in-stock products in most metros. It is not offered on customized Macs or on orders paid with financing. Most deliveries need a signature, and delivery times depend on your address, stock and the time of day you order.

As of October 30, we had not found any reporting of shipping slips for the new Macs. Check the date shown at checkout, since it reflects current stock.

What are the return and exchange rules for a new Mac?

You have 14 calendar days from the day you receive a Mac to return it to Apple, by mail or at any US Apple Store (Apple). Customized Macs can be returned but not exchanged in store.

Apple also offers price protection. If Apple lowers the price within 14 calendar days of the day you receive your Mac, you can request the difference within 14 days of the price change. Limited-time reductions and events such as Black Friday are excluded.

Does InStock Tracker track Mac stock?

No. InStock Tracker tracks Apple Store pickup stock for iPhones only: the iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in the US. For Macs, check pickup availability directly on apple.com or in the Apple Store app.

If you are also shopping for a new iPhone, you can check live iPhone pickup stock by store, or set an iPhone restock alert by Telegram, Discord, email or push notification.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the M6 MacBook Pro?

Should I wait for an M6 Pro or M6 Max MacBook Pro?

Apple hasn't announced either chip as of Oct 30, 2026, so there's no date or price to wait for. If you need a 16-inch or pro-level chip now, Apple sells M5 Pro and M5 Max models. If 14 inches and 32GB are enough, the M6 model arrives November 6.

Can you exchange a customized Mac at an Apple Store?

No. Apple says customized Macs can't be exchanged in store, only returned. You have 14 calendar days from receipt to return any Mac bought from Apple. If you might change your mind, a standard configuration gives you more flexibility and skips the extra preparation time.
