As of Oct 30, 2026, the iPhone Duo costs $1,999 (256GB), $2,199 (512GB), $2,599 (1TB) or $3,199 (2TB) unlocked from Apple in the US. On Apple Card Monthly Installments, the 256GB model is $83.29 a month for 24 months at 0% APR. Apple's Klarna lease starts at $57.99 a month.
Key Takeaways
- US prices: $1,999 (256GB), $2,199 (512GB), $2,599 (1TB), $3,199 (2TB). Color doesn't change the price (Apple).
- Monthly options: $83.29/month for 24 months on Apple Card at 0% APR, or a lease from $57.99/month that you don't own at the end.
- Budget for extras: Apple's Duo case is $79, its Folio is $129, and AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss is $199.99 a year, plus your state's sales tax.
- Carriers advertise up to $1,200 off with an eligible trade-in, paid as bill credits over 24 or 36 months, with the phone locked until paid off.
- The Duo's starting price is $700 more than the iPhone 18 Pro Max and $800 more than the iPhone 18 Pro.
How much does the iPhone Duo cost?
The iPhone Duo costs $1,999 to $3,199 in the US, depending on storage. These are Apple's unlocked prices ("Connect on your own later") as listed on Oct 30, 2026, on Apple's buy page. Apple confirmed the $1,999 starting price when it announced the phone on Sept 9, 2026 (Apple Newsroom).
| Storage | Price | Step up from the size below |
|---|---|---|
| 256GB | $1,999 | n/a |
| 512GB | $2,199 | +$200 |
| 1TB | $2,599 | +$400 |
| 2TB | $3,199 | +$600 |
These are US prices only. Apple sets separate prices in each country, and the Duo reached 28 more countries and regions on Oct 30, per Apple's announcement.
Both colors, Night Sky and Star White, cost the same at each size. If you're torn between them, see Night Sky vs Star White. The 2TB tier is a new storage option this year, offered on the Duo and both iPhone 18 Pro models.
Apple's buy page also sells AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon versions. Apple says the carrier models are the same phone. The difference is that financing through a carrier's installment plan locks the iPhone to that carrier until it's paid off.
How much is the iPhone Duo per month?
On Apple Card Monthly Installments (ACMI), the 256GB iPhone Duo is $83.29 a month for 24 months at 0% APR, per Apple's launch announcement. You own the phone outright. Apple also offers a lease called Apple Upgrade, from $57.99 a month over 24 months, which you don't own at the end.
Here is how the main ways to pay compare:
| Way to pay | Monthly cost (256GB) | Term | Do you own it? | Locked to a carrier? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pay in full | n/a ($1,999 up front) | n/a | Yes | No |
| Apple Card Monthly Installments | $83.29 | 24 months, 0% APR | Yes | No |
| Apple Upgrade lease (Klarna) | $57.99 to $92.81 | 24 months | No | No |
| Apple Upgrade lease (Klarna) | $82.99 to $132.81 | 12 months | No | No |
| Carrier installment plan with bill credits | Varies by plan | 24 or 36 months | Yes, once paid off | Yes, until paid off |
Lease ranges are Apple's "typical monthly payments" for the iPhone Duo, excluding tax and trade-in, from the same announcement. For a deeper look at choosing between these, read Apple Upgrade vs Apple Card Monthly Installments vs carrier deals.
What to know about Apple Card Monthly Installments
ACMI is the simplest way to spread the cost and still own an unlocked phone. Apple says an iPhone bought with ACMI is always unlocked. A few conditions apply (Apple):
- You must choose AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon at purchase. Prepaid plans aren't allowed.
- The 0% applies to the phone. Taxes and shipping are charged at your card's variable APR, which Apple says ranged from 17.74% to 27.99% on new accounts as of Oct 1, 2026.
- With a trade-in, you can't pay monthly if the net iPhone price falls below $99.
What to know about the Apple Upgrade lease
Apple Upgrade launched in the US on July 28, 2026 (AppleInsider), and Apple says the older iPhone Upgrade Program is coming to an end. Apple Upgrade is a lease through Klarna, "not a purchase or loan," in Apple's words. The low monthly figure comes with trade-offs:
- You return the phone at the end, in good working condition to avoid damage fees. To keep it, you pay the list price plus tax, minus the lease payments you've already made (Apple).
- AppleCare+ isn't included in the lease payment. You add it separately (see the all-in cost below).
- Approval depends on creditworthiness, through a soft credit check by Klarna. For an iPhone you must also connect it to AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon when you enroll, and Apple says "you cannot use a prepaid carrier plan."
- The first payment is due about 30 days after the phone ships or is ready for pickup.
What does the iPhone Duo cost all-in?
Expect to pay about $2,278 before tax for a 256GB Duo with Apple's case and a year of AppleCare+ ($1,999 + $79 + $199.99 = $2,277.99, our arithmetic). The phone is only part of the bill. Here are Apple's own add-on prices, as listed on Oct 30, 2026:
| Add-on | Apple price | Source |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone Duo Case (navy blue or sand) | $79 | Apple Newsroom |
| iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand (navy blue or taupe) | $129 | Apple Newsroom |
| AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss | $19.99/month or $199.99/year, until canceled | Apple Store |
| AppleCare One (up to 3 products) | $19.99/month, until canceled | Apple Store |
Sales tax depends on your state and city, and carriers charge it on the full retail price even when credits cut your bill. At the top end, a 2TB Duo with the Folio and a year of AppleCare+ runs $3,527.99 before tax ($3,199 + $129 + $199.99, our arithmetic).
Can you get the iPhone Duo cheaper with a carrier deal or trade-in?
Yes, but the savings come as bill credits that tie you to a carrier. As shown on Apple's buy pages on Oct 30, 2026, AT&T and T-Mobile advertise up to $1,200 off with an eligible trade-in, and Verizon up to $840 for existing customers (Apple).
| Carrier (via Apple) | Advertised saving | How it's paid |
|---|---|---|
| AT&T | Up to $1,200 with eligible trade-in | Credits over a 36-month 0% installment plan; $35 activation/upgrade fee |
| T-Mobile | Up to $1,200 with eligible trade-in | Credits over 24 or 36 months; $35 device connection charge |
| Verizon | Up to $840 (existing customers on Unlimited Ultimate); new lines up to $1,000 | Credits over 36 months on the Device Payment Program |
Apple lists the catch for all three. If you cancel service, the credits stop and you owe the remaining balance. The phone stays carrier-locked until it's paid off, and tax is charged on the full retail price. These offers are limited-time and can change, so check terms with the carrier. If you're weighing a locked phone against an unlocked one, our guide to unlocked vs carrier iPhones covers the trade-offs.
Apple's own trade-in is separate from carrier credits. Apple says trading in an iPhone 13 or later gets $175 to $885 in credit, and its Apple Trade In page notes that values vary by model and condition. For online orders, Apple must receive your trade-in within 14 days of the date you receive the new phone.
Why is the iPhone Duo so expensive compared to the iPhone 18 Pro?
The Duo is Apple's first foldable iPhone, and it sits at the top of the lineup. Its $1,999 starting price is $700 above the iPhone 18 Pro Max ($1,299) and $800 above the iPhone 18 Pro ($1,199), at the same 256GB storage, per Apple's buy pages.
For that money, you get a 7.6-inch folding inner display plus a 5.4-inch outer display, a titanium frame, and a dual-battery design, according to Apple's tech specs. Apple doesn't break down why the Duo costs what it does. Both Pro starting prices rose $100 this year, and Apple has blamed rising memory-chip costs for price increases across its lineup (MacRumors).
If you're deciding between the two, see iPhone Duo vs iPhone 18 Pro Max, which also covers which one you can actually get right now.
Which iPhone Duo storage size should you buy?
Buy the smallest size that comfortably fits your photos, videos and apps. Each step up costs more than the last: +$200 for 512GB, +$400 for 1TB, and +$600 for 2TB.
Two facts help with the choice:
- Storage didn't change delivery dates. Pre-orders opened at 5 a.m. PT on Oct 16, and by 5:30 a.m. every US configuration showed the same January 25 shipping date (MacRumors, Oct 16). Paying more for a bigger size didn't buy you an earlier ship date.
- Flexibility helps in stores. Pickup stock varies by store, color and size, so accepting two sizes doubles your chances. You can check live iPhone Duo pickup stock at Apple Stores near you, split by color and storage, and see whether each is available today or tomorrow.
Decide your ceiling before a restock hits. If 512GB is your limit, you know instantly whether a 1TB unit in Star White is worth the extra $400.
Should you pay a reseller more than Apple's price?
We wouldn't. Scalpers on eBay and X asked as much as $10,000 (9to5Mac, Oct 16). Dexerto reported eBay sold listings on Oct 16 of $2,699 to $3,800 for 256GB units and $4,999.99 for a 2TB model, against Apple's $1,999 and $3,199, though it noted screenshots don't confirm every sale was completed (Dexerto).
You also lose Apple's protections. Only items bought directly from Apple can be returned to Apple within its 14-day window. Read how to avoid iPhone Duo reseller scams before you consider it. The cheaper route is to catch a store restock at retail price. Set a restock alert and you'll get a Telegram, Discord, email or push alert when the Apple Store you pick shows pickup stock, stamped with when we detected it and when we sent it. We started tracking on Oct 30, 2026, and we never buy for you.
Frequently asked questions
How much is the iPhone Duo in the US?
The iPhone Duo costs $1,999 for 256GB, $2,199 for 512GB, $2,599 for 1TB and $3,199 for 2TB, unlocked from Apple in the US. Both colors, Night Sky and Star White, cost the same. Carrier versions are the same phone with different payment terms.
How much is the iPhone Duo per month?
The 256GB iPhone Duo is $83.29 a month for 24 months on Apple Card Monthly Installments at 0% APR, and you own the phone. Apple's Klarna lease, Apple Upgrade, starts at $57.99 a month over 24 months, but you return the phone at the end.
Will the iPhone Duo price drop?
Apple hasn't announced any price change. If Apple lowers the price within 14 calendar days of you receiving the phone, its policy lets you request the difference. That excludes limited-time reductions and events such as Black Friday, so a sale price wouldn't qualify for a refund.
Does the iPhone Duo cost more from a carrier than from Apple?
No. The list price is the same $1,999 and up, and Apple sells AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon versions of the same phone. Carrier deals can cut the net cost with a trade-in, but through bill credits over 24 or 36 months, with the phone locked until paid off.
Is the 2TB iPhone Duo worth it?
Only if you genuinely need the space. The 2TB model costs $3,199, which is $1,200 more than the 256GB model. It didn't ship any sooner at launch, since every configuration showed the same January estimate, so storage space is the only reason to pay for it.
